WFT Gliss Monotex Hybrid 4kg Braid
An almost mono-braid hybrid.
WFT’s collaboration between Japanese PE manufacturers and German engineers has given way to a revolutionary new type of line. Anglers the world over have been raving about this line and it’s finally here! The WFT Gliss HMPE Hybrid Monotex Line features the slickness of mono, with a diameter that’s thinner and tougher than braid, plus better casting performance than both! And what’s more it also has a very high dimensional stability and low water absorption, so it packs neatly onto your spool, producing a perfect winding contour after each cast. Other advantages include exceptional UV resistance, extreme tensile strength, impressive abrasion resistance and a highly colourfast finish.
Made from extruded and fused HMPE
HMPE is widely used in high quality marine ropes, tow lines, etc. It’s a very tough material, with the highest impact strength of any thermoplastic presently made. When used in fishing, you get a line that has very low stretch (like braid), ultra smooth (like mono), with ridiculously thin diameters for its strength.
The WFT Gliss HMPE Hybrid Monotex Line ‘s smooth coating, line flexibility and thin diameter guarantees performance-enhanced casting distance – which actually improves even further when wet.
Key Statistics
- Measured Diameter: .167mm (+167% on claimed .10mm)
- Measured Breaking Strain: 13.16lbs (+146% on claimed 9lbs)
- Abrasion Breaking Strain: 4.23lbs (32.1% of measured max)
Both Diameter and Breaking strain indicate that this line is rated below its actual size and strength.
Tensile Strength (387614 psi) is above average.
Abrasion resistance is close to average compared to others.
